How we started
My name is James Sheridan, Founder and Managing Director of J&A Recruitment Ltd. I was raised on my family's suckler and beef farm in Munter Connaught, near Virginia, County Cavan, where my late father, Jim Sheridan, farmed for many years. Growing up on the farm gave me a genuine understanding of the commitment, resilience and hard work that farming and rural businesses demand. Those values continue to shape the way I work today.
I was educated at St. Vincent's College, Castleknock, before building a career spanning 18 years with FRS Farm Relief. During that time, I worked closely with employers and candidates throughout Ireland, helping businesses recruit dependable people while developing long-lasting relationships built on trust, honesty and results.
After leaving FRS, I attended a couple of job interviews as I considered the next step in my career. However, life had other plans. A local dairy farmer, who knew I had left FRS, called to my home looking for help to find a relief milker for his farm. I agreed to assist him, and that conversation reminded me just how much I enjoyed helping employers solve recruitment challenges and connecting good people with good opportunities.
That single visit planted the seed for what would become J&A Recruitment Ltd.

Throughout that journey, my wife, Ann Marie, has been my biggest supporter. She encouraged me to believe in building something of our own and stood beside me through every stage of establishing the business. In recognition of that support, the company was named J&A Recruitment Ltd., representing James and Ann Marie a reflection that this business has always been built on teamwork, commitment and shared belief.

One Clear Vision
In October 2024, we officially founded J&A Recruitment Ltd with a clear vision: to provide employers and jobseekers with a recruitment service built on integrity, personal relationships and genuine industry knowledge. I wanted to create a business where every client deals directly with the owner, receiving honest advice, clear communication and a professional service from the first conversation through to a successful placement.
